I was a flea in a jar...

Jun 08, 2022

I was a flea in a jar for a very long time.
And not only was I a flea in a jar...

...I was a flea in a jar that had a very tight lid.
Let me explain.
If you haven't heard the "flea in a jar" story, in short, it's a really great analogy of how we limit ourselves and our potential.

When fleas are placed in a jar, they try to jump out.
But after a lid is placed on the jar, the fleas soon realize they can't escape.  So they stop trying
Even when the lid is removed, they think they can't escape.  So they don't try.
It's like they've been conditioned to accept the conditions they're in and it places imaginary boundaries on them.

That's what happened to me.
Going through jobs without formal qualifications was like a lid shut tight.
Poor little flea was me.
My imaginary boundaries felt so real around this that I didn't even bother applying for roles that I'd really enjoy because I thought "why would they choose me?"
Maybe this is similar for you, or maybe it's something else.
Maybe you're stuck in a work environment that doesn't work for you anymore, but you feel you just can't escape.

You set boundaries like...
I won't get the same salary.
I won't be able to access the same flexibility I have now.
I won't be able to start in a new industry.
I won't...
I won't...
I won't...
You get the drift.
You too are a flea in a jar.

If you want OUT of that jar.  If you want to choose what's next for you without the boundaries you may have set for yourself (or that others have set for you), I'd love to help.

After working it out for myself, I know specialize in not only getting you out of that jar, but smashing it to bits, so you never have to be in again.

If that's something that resonates with you, and you're ready to take action, let's have a chat.
