Drinking Coffee = New Job. How?

I wanted to share how drinking coffee can land you a new job.
I love coffee, and will drink it at any moment, but...
...years ago I found out that it was a powerful job-hunting tool.
How?
Well, every time I wanted to go for a promotion, or ask for a pay raise or apply for a new job...
...I would ask the person responsible for the role for a coffee.
Even if I didn’t know them!
It was “my shout” I would say.
And I got a great hit rate on people saying “yes” because the way I asked them landed as an opportunity for them.
It wasn’t “please can I have this job” begging type of scenario (that rarely works by the way).
So, when I sat down with them for coffee and talked about my goals and my passion and what I was up to in life and career, they were inspired by my energy.
That’s not me tooting my own horn...that’s exactly the feedback they gave me.
And when people are inspired by you.
When they see your motivation and what you can bring.
They want to support you. They want to help.
Many of those coffee chats turned into role opportunities, promotions and pay rises.
And they only cost me the price of a coffee.
So, my question to you is... when was the last time you shouted someone in your network a coffee?
Or asked to catch up on zoom to pick their brain about something.
Or connected with anyone that could advance your career?
