How to easily recognise your team
Jun 07, 2024If you're a leader, this week I want you to recognise and praise your team.
There are two criteria I've got for you.
- You must praise everyone in your team...no exception.
- You must praise them based on something specific and genuine.
For example…
Use the Situation, Behavior, Impact Model:
“Jane, the meeting you facilitated Tuesday was great. You had an agenda, you spoke really well, you included everyone. Everyone walked away knowing exactly what was expected of them and you’ve really moved the project forward. Great work”.
Now, if you're an employee and need some love.
You can ask your boss...
“I've been working really hard on X, are you able to let me know what you like about it?”
Chances are you'll get some praise, but if you don't...
I'll say it.
I think you're amazing, you're doing your best in tough situations, and your hard work will pay off.
Keep up the great work!
Lastly, bosses also need to feel recognised.
Praise something they have been trying really hard on, or for the hard work they are doing. It's amazing the connections and opportunities you can build when you regularly do this.
