How to "Condition Your Calm"

I have been one of those Mums judging myself harshly after having kids.

If Iā€™m honest, Iā€™ve been judging myself harshly for as long as I can remember; kids have just exacerbated it.

Some days I judge how I look (hello belly jiggles and facial lines).

Other days I judge myself on how much I can get done - or not get done.  My self worth is directly measured against my ā€˜achievementsā€™ and the opinions of others.

Itā€™s exhausting.

Add to that the constant push/pull of being there for my kids versus the enjoyment of going to workā€¦

Itā€™s been tough.

The advice I give to so many of the women in my programs is ā€œbe kind to yourselfā€ and ā€œbe consistentā€.

This week Iā€™m taking on my own advice.

My solutionā€¦

At Pilates last month, I stumbled across these amazing ā€œCondition Your Calmā€ cards by Dr Libby Weaver.

Each day Iā€™ve picked a card to help transform my mindset.

Through biochemical, nutritional and emotional pathways to ease my stress, the cards have had me focus on:

  • calming my nervous system,

  • resting my mind from the chitter-chatter,

  • and giving up trying to solve these internal battles.

And I have been effortlessly more productive.

As an example, the card this morning was about ā€˜calming the judgments in my mindā€™ and yesterday was about ā€˜how iron levels are so important to reduce anxiety and stressā€™.

There are many ways to achieve calmness, like meditation, setting a daily intention, journaling, therapy, exercising or being with friends to name a few.

Do whatever works for you.

My big takeaway though is to do it consistently. Forge a daily habit that will become hard to break.

This one simple, consistent action will be the secret sauce to a fantastic week ahead!
